£20 m paid by Chelsea to acquire Baba Rahman from Augsburg

Chelsea’s fifth signing is on the verge of being finalized as Augsburg’s Baba Rahman is just a signature away from becoming a part of the Blues this season.

The Premier League outfit has paid £20 m for the Ghanian international’s move to London. The Bundesliga club made a hefty profit on the left-back as 12 months ago they only paid £2 m for his services at the German outfit.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has high hopes for the defender and has praised his acquisition as one of the best this summer. Rahman will be replacing Filipe Luis in the left-back position as the Brazilian had a less than satisfactory 2014-15 season.

Playing in the left defensive position will certainly be a challenge for Rahman as he will be fighting for the starting position against Cesar Azpilicueta, who Mourinho has applauded as the best left-back in the Premier League.

Rahman will be joining Radamel Falcao and Asmir Begovic as the summer signings.
