Former Arsenal and Everton FC centre-back Martin Keown has urged John Stones to reject a move to the current Premier League champions Chelsea FC.
The centre-back has been linked with a move to the Blues all summer long. Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has already made three unsuccessful bids going as high as £30m and is now preparing to lure the kid for £40m. However, Toffees boss Roberto Martinez is not budging at all.
Now Premier League stalwart Keown is shelling out advises to the youngster to not to move to Chelsea. He thinks that the 21-year-old has more to learn and grow and he has a big fan following at the Walton-based club.
“He should stay. He still needs to grow as a player and he needs to know he is number one choice,” Keown said. “I don’t think the Chelsea manager is completely stable at the moment, he is going through a really difficult period, and he is better staying at Everton for another season. They adore him, the Evertonians. They got me in the England team because they were so supportive. He needs that warmth for at least another year for his development.”
It is rumoured that the youth is planning to hand in a transfer request to be moved to London.
