Juan Mata opens up about recent draw

The Spain international was left with a bitter taste in his mouth following a dull draw at home to Newcastle United

He may not have been very chatty when the referee blew the final whistle as his team was held to a goalless draw by Newcastle United, but Juan Mata was not happy at all with the result.

Although not the captain of the team, Mata is a public leader both on and off the field and after seeing his team drop points for the first time this season, the former Valencia and Chelsea man let out his frustration on his blog.

“The goalless draw against Newcastle last Saturday left us with a bad taste,” Juan Mata wrote on his blog.

“Personally I think we deserved to win but that doesn’t count.”

“In my opinion the team had spells of our best football so far this season, and we created enough chances to score at least one goal.

“From a personal point of view, I felt very comfortable and was able to participate a lot, but I went home enraged for not being able to win, same as my teammates.”
