Chelsea turn to different target after John Stones deal stalls

After Everton manager and owner refuse to sell John Stones, Jose Mourinho is now attempting to sign PSG starlet Marquinhos.

The star has been linked with Barcelona in recent years but PSG have refused to show any signs that the player is up for grabs as he remains one of the key players for their future.

The 21 year old joined the French side two years ago from Roma and has since broken into the Brazilian national side as well. However, the partnership of David Luiz and Thiago Silva for both club and country has limited Marquinho’s playing time at the club.

Nevertheless, PSG’s president Nasser AL Khelaifi has stated that he has no intention of letting the player go and that they can retain his services for a long period of time as the player himself is highly motivated to fight for his place.

Chelsea after failing to impress in the opening three Premier League games have shown concern at the back after conceding seven goals in three matches.

The English reigning champions are not only looking at Maquinhos but also Atletic Bilbao’s Laporte.

The Spanish player only recently signed a new deal at the club and plays as their first choice center back but Chelsea remain hopeful in order to sign at least one of them before the end of the transfer window.
