Pulis looks to strengthen back four with Chelsea defender

French international star and former St. Etienne full-back, Kurt Zouma; has been given the green light to move elsewhere given Antonio Rudiger’s arrival from Roma. Another year to develop as a defender could prove a valuable investment for both clubs involved.

The bookies see West Brom as the main contender for the defender, who will receive the wise wisdom of former playing defender, Tony Pulis. Despite a Premier League medal under his belt, Zouma has been told that new signing Rudiger would have preference, hence the reason for the loan approval.

The 22-year-old has the game of an old fashioned Ferdinand or Kompany but has the greatest wealth of them all on his side, his youth. His strength, versatility, vigour and most importantly his mentality have played vital parts in Chelsea’s success in the last campaign.

Although Rudiger’s arrival to Chelsea in the coming days, many see Zouma as the next John Terry for the club. Despite Conte making Zouma’s position clear, the door will always be open to a diligent young man like Zouma back at Chelsea.

It would be fair to say that a move to a smaller club would boost his self-confidence despite having a £14.5 million price tag from 2014, weighing over his head.

Manchester City are rumoured to have interest in Zouma however pundits fear a Fernando Torres situation, where Zouma is benchwarmer for overrated alternatives. West Brom are in dire need to bolster the back four given Gareth McAuley’s overplaying last season. Craig Dawson and Jonny Evans have been options for the Baggies but Zouma could provide a new lease of life.

The maturity of the 22-year-old may have been honed by Conte, but many people behind the scenes at Chelsea feel that given Pulis’ history, he could provide the platform to spring Zouma’s career.
