Ivanovic set to join Monaco revolution

Sources close to SqueakyBumTime.com have reported that Monaco are planning a £25million bid for Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic.

Ivanovic joined the club in January 2008 for a deal around £9.7million and has since become the Serbia captain and is regarded as one of the Premier League’s best defenders.

Although, Chelsea may be prepared to let the Serbian international leave the club as they are preparing a move for Porto defender Eliaquim Mangala.

Incoming manager Jose Mourinho is rumoured to be a massive fan of Mangala as is keen to make him his first signing of his second spell at Stamford Bridge.

Monaco have spent massive amounts already this summer and are hoping to strengthen their defence with Ivanovic.

Porto have already been raided by Monaco as they signed Joao Moutinho and James Rodriguez for £60million.

Therefore, Porto are reluctant to sell their star defender as they have already left key players this summer and are delighted with Mangala following an impressive season.

The 22-year-old signed for the Portuguese club in August 2011 but spent his first season as back-up to Rolando, Otamendi and Maicon, however became a key part of their defence this season, whilst contributing with 4 goals.

Ivanovic, has become a sold fixture of Chelsea’s defence but he may be tempted by a move to Monaco as they are planning to bring in World-class players this summer, with Radamel Falcao expected to complete a move to the French club in the coming days.

Meanwhile former Chelsea player Ricardo Carvalleho is also expected to join Monaco on a free transfer, whilst Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes is also on their radar.

Despite Ivanovic’s importance, a bid of £25million could be very appealing to Chelsea as the Serb is now reaching 30-years-old and could only has a handful of years left at the top level.

One factor that may leave Chelsea reluctant to letting Ivanvoic leave the club is that he can also play at Right-back, and with Cesar Azpilicueta failed to impress in his first season, they may hope to hold on to the player.

Mourinho has a number of players in his mind that he plans to bring to the club, however sources have also reported that he is prepared to make Romelu Lukaku his first choice striker.

The Belgium international enjoyed a superb season whilst on loan to West Brom and Mourinho believes that he can do the job for Chelsea.

Lukaku scored 17 goals for the midlands club and has been touted as “the new Didier Drogba”.

Meanwhile the deal for Bayer Leverkusen winger Andreas Schurrle is expected to be confirmed soon in a deal worth £28million.

Schurrle can be played out wide on the left and right but can also play as striker.

With Mourinho’s imminent arrival and a series of players being linked with the club, this may lead to some of Chelsea’s current crop feeling anxious around the club and lead them to leaving Stamford Bridge.

The former Real Madrid boss is also rumoured to be tracking Madrid stars Luka Modric and Cristiano Ronaldo, whilst Wayne Rooney also remains a target for the Blues.
