Chelsea striker set to follow Benitez to Napoli

Sources close to have revealed that Chelsea striker Fernando Torres is set to follow Rafa Benitez out of the club to join Italian club Napoli.

Benitez recently signed a two-year deal at Napoli to end a horror spell at Stamford Bridge, and it is believed that £50million flop Torres wants to join up with his fellow Spaniard once again.

The pair enjoyed a great spell at Liverpool together, however both failed to live up to expectations at Chelsea, but Benitez is confident that they can both save their careers at the Serie A club.

It has been speculated that Chelsea will use Fernando Torres as part of a potential deal for Uruguayan forward Edison Cavani.

Chelsea had been priced out of a move for Cavani, however when it was emerged that Torres would be interested in a move to Napoli, they began to consider preparing a deal which includes the 29-year-old.

Torres is expected to leave Stamford Bridge this summer, after Jose Mourinho announced that he wants to make Belgium international Romelu Lukaku his number one striker.

Meanwhile Torres also lost his place in the starting line-up to Demba Ba, therefore is ready to leave the club in an attempt to restart his career.

However, tension is high at the Bridge because Chelsea’s technical director Michael Emenalo wants Lukaku to go out on loan for another season, with Borussia Dortmund and West Ham waiting to make a move.

Mourinho and Emenalo are set to clash as the Portuguese manager also wants goalkeeper Thomas Courtois back at the Blues in order to give Petr Cech a challenge, however Emenalo believes they both need another year out on loan.

Sources have also suggested that Mourinho is set to upset owner Roman Abramovich, as he wants to sell Brazilian defender David Luiz.

This has alerted Barcelona, as they are interested in the player and are rumoured to be preparing a £30million deal for him.

Benitez is also interested in taking Luiz to Napoli, however it is unlikely that they will be able to contend with Barca.

A deal involving Torres will depend on what decision is made about Lukaku and whether he stays at the club or not.

Lukaku enjoyed a great spell on loan at West Brom last season and Mourinho believes that the player is ready to take a main role at Chelsea, but Emenalo feels that he needs more time to develop.

If Lukaku does leave again on loan, Chelsea will be in desperate need for a new striker and have already set their sights on some possible targets.

Mourinho is now also tracking Arsenal target Stevan Jovetic from Fiorentina, who is valued at £25million.

Arsenal have been tracking the Montenegrin since April and were hoping to seal a deal for the player, however Chelsea are ready to hijack the deal.

Meanwhile another Serie A player has been linked with Chelsea, as sources suggest that Lazio forward Senad Lulic is being tracked by the club.

Lulis has recently announced that he is happy at Lazio, and said, “All I can say at this moment is that everything that is being written is pure speculation,”

“But, of course, we will see what will happen in the summer.

The 27-year-old won the hearts of Lazio fans as he scored the winning and only goal of the Coppa Italia final against rivals Roma.

Also, youngster Jeffrey Bruma is set to join Dutch club PSV, following his loan spell at Hamburg.
