Torres to leave Chelsea with Cavani and Lewandowski lined up

Fernando Torres expects to leave Chelsea this summer as speculation mounts that Jose Mourinho will seal a deal for either Edinson Cavani or Robert Lewandowski.

The Spanish striker suffered heartbreak in the final of the Confederations cup, losing 3-0 to Brazil and he could face further misfortune if Chelsea decides to offload the 29 year old in the summer.

Despite finishing the tournament with the Golden Boot, Torres has failed to find on a regular basis since his £50 million to Stamford Bridge in 2010 and is being linked with a move to Italian side Napoli while Arsenal are also monitoring events closely.

Chelsea have made a new striker a priority this summer with Cavani the club’s top target. The Uruguay international is rated as one of the best strikers in world football and is being tipped to move over the summer.

The player is believed to fancy a move to Real Madrid but the Spanish side are refusing to pay the £53 million buyout clause that Napoli have placed on the defender. That means it will be a straight fight between Manchester City and Chelsea to secure the 26 year olds signature.

Should City land the striker then Mourinho will switch his sights to Polish striker Lewandowski. The Borussia Dortmund striker was thought to be joining Bayern Munich this summer but a move has been blocked by his club meaning that he’s most likely destination is going to be the Premier League.

Manchester United are also keen on Lewandowski but Chelsea are hoping to their offer of £170,000 a week will see them snap up the £25 million rated striker.

Mourinho has firsthand experience of the 24 year old scoring prowess from the Champions League semi final where Lewandowski scored four goals to knock his Madrid side out.

Should either of those striker arrive then it is envisaged that Torres will leave and he could be followed out the door by Demba Ba. The former Newcastle United has failed to find the form that saw the club pay £7 million for him in January and there are suggestions he could be allowed to leave with Romelu Lukaku set to feature more prominently in the first team this season.
