Wolfsburg v Borussia Dortmund, Sat 14:30
Although Wolfsburg will be no easy task for the current league champions, Borussia Dortmund will have one eye firmly fixed on next week’s encounter with Bayern Munich when they make a trip to the Volkswagen Arena on Saturday, as Victor Chandler offer long odds on the away side to shock Klopp’s side.
Tuesday’s clash between the top two is likely to be a decisive factor in who comes away with the title at the end of the campaign but the Wolves will be no easy competition after going through a recent surge in form.
Felix Magath’s men are on a four-match winning streak which is in no small part down to the revival of Patrick Helmes’ season.
The striker has scored six goals in his last six games and after coming inches close to a January exit, would appear to have re-established himself as an important part of the Wolves’ lineup.
Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp is all but too aware of the Wolfsburg threat too.
Speaking before this weekend’s match, the manager stated: “Wolfsburg are on their way into European business. They looked much different before the winter break.”
The 44 year-old added: “Now they are a stable side and that makes this a difficult task for us. But then again we do not have easy tasks. One difficult task is followed by another.”
One major boost for Klopp is that his team may see the return of club favourite and team talisman Mario Götze.
The 19 year-old has just penned a contract extension keeping him at the club until 2016 and is set to return from two months out with injury in the coming week.
It’s unknown whether Klopp will risk playing his starlet before the Munich trial but Götze will be requiring match fitness and if he does feature, it would seem likely that Jakub Błaszczykowski will make way for his return.
Unfortunately for Magath, Helmes has been experiencing muscular problems during training this week and may not be available for Saturday.
