Hull ponders Palacios bid to reinforce midfield

Hull have had quite a fruitful summer so far with The Tigers already signing several top flight players such as Allan McGregor and Curtis Davies.

The club look set to continue their success as the Championship runners-up look set to sign Honduran midfielder Wilson Palacios from Stoke for £1.5 million.

Palacios is a seasoned veteran in the Premier League with the 28 year old having played for Birmingham,Wigan, Tottenham and Stoke so far in his career.

But the midfielder has become an outcast at The Britannia Stadium since joining in 2011 with the midfielder suffering from several injuries over the past year.

Despite these problems, it hasn’t stopped the Honduran’s former manager Steve Bruce from making a bid after signing the midfielder for both Birmingham and Wigan.

At the moment, the player is thought to be talking with Hull about a possible move although there haven’t been any comments from either Palacios or either clubs.

Palacios arrived in the Premier League initially on loan with Birmingham but despite impressing during his first few games, personal problems forced the Honduran to return home and returning to parent side Olimpia.

It was only when Steve Bruce moved to Wigan that Palacios made a permanent move to the Premier League signing for the club in January 2008.

After notching up 41 appearances over two years for Wigan, he joined Tottenham where his physical presence and strong passing abilities helped him become a valued asset for the London side.

During his 3 years at White Hart Lane, Palacios notched up 65 appearances for the side and was part of the team’s first ever Champions League campaign during the 2010-11 season.

But Palacios has suffered since moving to Stoke as part of a £16 million double deal where he joined Peter Crouch in moving to The Britannia.

Whilst Crouch has constantly featured in the Stoke side, Palacios has mainly sat on the subs bench for The Potters only making 4 starts for the side last season.

As Hull are looking for experienced players, Palacios will certainly fulfil a lot of the criteria that Steve Bruce would want for his return to the Premier League.

With Hull also having the likes of Robert Koren and fellow Honduran international Maynor Figueroa in the squad, Palacios would certain feel at home at the KC Stadium and provide extra strength that is needed to survive within the Premier League.
