The trip to Granada has the potential to be a banana skin especially as Lucas Alcaraz’s side made a stunning start to the season last weekend beating Osasuna 2-1 on the road thanks to goals from Youssef El-Arabi and Hassan Yedba.

Last season the club finished 15th, six points above the drop zone but after a clever summer in the transfer market the club are tipped to be a surprise package this season.

Granada certainly caught Osasuna on the hop and while El-Arabi and Yedba were the goal scoring heroes, 34 year old goalkeeper Roberto’s performed heroics between the sticks to help his side to the three points.

The former Sporting Gijon star will need to be at his very best again on Sunday as he faces a Real team that includes Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Isco.

The latter two enjoyed solid starts to the season with former Malaga man Isco, making his competitive debut for the club, creating the opener for Benzema before firing home the winner four minutes from time.

With a move for Gareth Bale close to being finalised along with a late swoop for Liverpool star Luis Suarez Real creative options in the final third look set to be bolstered and with great rivals Barcelona winning 7-0 against Levante, Carlo Ancelotti will be aware of the need to win with style.

The former Chelsea coach will have been pleased to make a winning start however and will be aware that Granada have made life difficult for Real in recent season’s shocking the then defending champions 1-0 last season.

That surprise game on been on the cards however as 12 months earlier Los Meringues needed two late goals to snatch a 2-1 win and another tricky game lies in store for Ancelotti and his men this time round.

Real make the trip down south without Xabi Alonso after the midfielder was ruled out for up to three months with a broken bone in his foot.
