Much of their success has been down to the form of striker Diego Costa scorer of the winner against rivals Real last weekend, his 7th strike of the season and the 24 year old has admitted that he would keen on representing Spain at International level.

Midweek reports claimed that Spanish boss Vicente del Bosque was keen to draft the striker, capped twice in friendlies for Brazil, in and the player has welcomed the talk.

“Nobody has contacted me but I won’t say no to whoever calls me up first. How would I say no to a national team manager?” he told Spanish television channel, La Sexta.

“Spain have strikers like Negredo, Soldado and Villa. They have the best ones, it’s very hard to get called up.”

Atletico have scored 19 goals and conceded just 5 on their way to second in the table and on Sunday they face a Vigo side that has won just once this season and is without a win in their last five games.

Elsewhere on Sunday, 6th place Valencia appear to have overcome their poor start and are currently on a run of three victories on the trot.

They travel to the San Mames Stadium to face an Athletic Bilbao that is unbeaten on their home turf so far in this campaign and currently sit one place and two points ahead of Sunday’s visitors.

Sevilla will aim to secure only their second win of the season when they take on Almeria while 11th place Real Betis with just one defeat in five face Getafe.
