The defeat ended Real’s 18 game unbeaten run and saw them drop to second in the table behind new leaders Atletico, leaving Ancelotti to urge his side to forget the defeat to Barcelona and to produce a strong response.

“The league race is still open. We need an immediate reaction,” the former PSG manager told a news conference.

“I’ve said it many times – the league will be decided in the last match. We have to continue fighting. We need to react.

“I haven’t spoken to the players about the match yet. We committed small mistakes and that’s why we lost.

“The team is ready to get up and move on. We have to be satisfied with how we played.”

Given the level of the performance in what can only be described as one of all-time great “El Clasico’s” it is unlikely that Ancelotti will make too many changes to his side.

Sergio Ramos is suspended following his red card against Barcelona with Raphael Varane the most likely deputy, while Angel di Maria could keep his place ahead of Isco after his two assists.

Seville will offer a stern challenge to Real. The club are currently 5th in the table in the Europa league spots and have won five games in a row.

There most recent success came in a 2-1 win away to Osasuna while in their last home game they beat Real Valladolid 4-1.

Carlos Bacca and Ivan Rakitic have played a big role in the club’s success this season. The pair have notched 23 goals between them with Colombian star Bacca bagging 12.

Croatian star Rakitic meanwhile has emerged as a top target for a host of clubs after a stunning season that also includes 9 assists.

Seville lost 7-3 when they played Real at the Bernabeu earlier in the season.
