Carlo Ancelotti’s men have won their last five games on the trot in all competition, their most success a come-from-behind 2-1 win over Bulgarian side Ludogorets in the Champions league.

That victory came at a cost however with Cristiano Ronaldo suffering an Achilles injury. The Portuguese forward has been training on his own since however Ancelotti claims his star man will be fit for Sunday.

Real Madrid streaming“Fabio Coentrao, Jese Rodriguez and Sami Khedira are the only ones who are not fit to play,” the former PSG coach said. “Cristiano is in excellent shape.”

Ronaldo is the form player in European football at present with 10 goals in 5 games this season and if he does miss out it would be a blow to a Real team that looks a different prospect without the 29 year old.

Ancelotti also revealed that Real would switch formation for the game, adding “We will play with a 4-3-3 formation. We have to fix a few things and be more balanced,” he continued.

“[Bilbao boss] Ernesto Valverde is one of the best coaches in Spain. Athletic has a lot of character and quality. We have to be careful with them.”

While Real have been in fine form in recent weeks, the same cannot be said for Bilbao. The club are currently fifth from bottom having won just once this season.

The club are without a win in their last 6 games in all competitions and lost 2-1 midweek to BATE in the Champions league. In addition to the defeat to BATE, they have also lost to Grenada and Rayo Vallecano with their only points in Europe and the league coming against Shakhtar Donetsk and Eibar.

The club’s only win this season came in a 3-0 success over Levante in Match day two of La Liga.

Valverde has no new injury worries ahead of the game although attacking midfielder Isaac Aketxe is out with a toe injury.
