Hull take on Premier League Champions Leicester City in the curtain raiser to the new season, in what could be a baptism of fire for the Tigers.
The club were rocked during the summer period with the news that Steve Bruce and walked out on the club having won promotion in the Championship playoff final, and the optimism and positive vibes around the club have slowly ebbed away.
The departure of playoff final winner Diame (who has left for Newcastle Utd) is also a bitter blow to take for fans and the arrival of the Premier League champions is probably not the game fans would have chosen as the season opener.
Following last seasons unbelivable feat, when Claudio Ranieri’s side romped to the title with a 10 point lead, Leicester City are once again fancied to do well, although the 5000/1 on offer is a thing of the past.
The club has managed to keep hold of its prized assets in Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez, although Arsenal are still rumoured to be sniffing around, with only N’Golo Kante the only noticable departure.
The back 5 remains the same, with Schmeichel once again between the sticks, and a back four of Fuchs, Huth, Morgan andn Simpson – although Robert Huth is banned for the opener.
The side were beaten 2-1 by Manchester Utd in the Community Shield, however the side can take great heart in the way it performed and deserved something from the game, and in reality the side should have far more quality than their opponents today.
Hull v Leicester Match Odds
Leicester look a cracking bet to get the season off to a flyer for punters at a juicy looking price of 2/1. It could be a long and difficult season for Hull, and that price simply should not be missed. For those Hull supporters who think they can get their season off to the perfect start, 3/1 is the carrot dangler.
