Reports in Portugal are linking Liverpool with a move for Paulo Machado.
The 27 year old midfielder is currently on the books of Greek outfit Olympiacos, who he helped to a domestic league and cup double last season.
The 5 times capped Portuguese International rose through the ranks with Porto but failed to cement his place in the team enjoying loan spells with Uniao Leiria, Leixoes and French side Saint-Etienne.
The move to France proved to be good one with his form for Saint Etienne catching the eye and at the end of the season he made a permanent move to Ligue 1 with Toulouse snapping up the midfielder in a €3.5 million deal.
After three years in the south of France, Machado moved on again with Greece his final destination after Olympiacos agreed to pay €2.7 million for his services. His first season in Greece saw him make 28 league appearances scoring 2 goals with a further 6 starts in the Champions league.
Machado is a attack minded midfielder who play anywhere across the middle or in the support striker role and it would appear he is a cost price alternative to Ajax star Christian Eriksen.
Machado would cost a reported €5.5 million but reports in Russia suggest that Liverpool could have a rival for Machado with Rubin Kazan believed to have offered €4 million for his services, a bid which was rejected by the Greek side.
Liverpool are also ready to renew their interest in Kyriakos Papadopolous. The Reds were keen to sign the defender earlier in the summer but pulled out of a potential move amid concerns over a knee injury which hampered him last season.
However with the player back playing pre-season football fears over the injury have been allayed prompting reports that Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is ready to make his move. According to the Daily Mirror the Reds are set to offer £14 million for the 21 year old.
The new link to Papadopolous emerges as rumours continue to circulate about a Napoli move for Martin Skrtel.
New Napoli boss Rafa Benitez is reportedly ready to take the Slovak defender to Italy and is readying a £12 million offer for the defender.
Skrtel is no longer a first team starter after a poor second half to the season and with Daniel Agger and Kolo Toure forming a decent partnership during pre season he could be tempted to move on.
