Three Stars set to Shine at Anfield

Ahead of Saturday’s clash between Liverpool and Arsenal Fantasy5live picks three stars set to outshine the more established names.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

The 20 year old has only made five premier league appearance this season but already has two goals and 1 assist to his name. The versatile midfielder has spent much of the season on the treatment table but he returned in recent weeks looking sharp and determined.

The England’s stars contribution in the hard fought win over Crystal Palace showed that despite names like Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey, Mikel Arteta and Mesut Ozil on the books Oxlade-Chamberlain is still a key man for Arsene Wenger.

Comfortable in the middle of the park, on the flank or upfront Oxlade-Chamberlain gives Wenger plenty of options and while he may not start at Anfield with Wilshere back from injury, he will certainly have a part to play in the final result.

Raheem Sterling

As the fourth part of the much vaunted Liverpool forward line Sterling has played second fiddle to Luis Suarez, Daniel Sturridge and Philippe Coutinho. Since coming into the team in November Sterling has impressed scoring three times and assisting with two. The England man has grown in confidence this season managing 1.8 tackles per game at Anfield to add a defensive side to his game.

The winger has looked composed in front of goal and on the ball, a sign of his growing maturity and appears to have developed a strong understanding with Suarez. Given his dribbling ability Liverpool has a potent weapon that can win frees in dangerous positions and his battle with Nacho Monreal will be key to the Reds hopes on Saturday.

Bacary Sagna

While Liverpool’s right hand side appears strong despite the relative age of Jon Flanagan and Sterling the left side of the Reds line up looks weak. The fact that Coutinho plays a more central role rather than as an out and out left winger/midfielder means that the already defensively weak Aly Cissokho has no cover. The former Valencia man has struggled to capture the imagination of the Kop and has looked out of place in a red shirt.

With Sagna one of the best right backs in England Arsenal have a very valuable tool at their disposable especially given the time and space he is likely to have at Anfield. Expect Arsene Wenger to target Liverpool’s left hand side.

The French defender has scored one and assisted with two so far this season although far more impressive is he defensive works which includes 4.2 clearances a game and has only been dribbled past an average of .4 a game.
