Last season’s runners up have yet to hit top gear this season with their summer signings still bedding in not to mention the absence of the injured Daniel Sturridge in recent weeks.

While the new signings will get another chance to gel on Saturday the likes of Mario Balotelli, under-fire after a poor midweek performance, Dejan Lovren, Lazar Markovic and Alberto Moreno could be joined in the line-up by Sturridge.

The England man, left out of the squads for the upcoming European qualifiers with San Marino and Estonia, could feature with Rodgers refusing to confirm whether or not he would be involved.

While it remains to be seen if Sturridge does indeed feature, definitely out are Mamadou Sakho (thigh), Joe Allen (knee), Emre Can (ankle), Glen Johnson (thigh) and John Flanagan (knee).

While Liverpool appear very much a side in transition, WBA are flying high after a slow start of their own. New manager Alan Irvine, returning to Liverpool following a stint as a coach with Everton, had to wait 5 games for a first win but he is currently on a run of three straight victories.

The 2-0 away over Spurs got the Baggies up and running and they have followed up that win with further victories over Hull in the Capital One Cup and Burnley in the league last time out.

The 4-0 win over Burnley was their most impressive performance of the season with Irvine’s men turning in a dominant performance aided by a star turn from Graham Dorrans.

Another in strong form is Saido Berahino. The England U21 striker has scored 3 in his last two games and with Liverpool’s defence all at sea at times he will fancy his chances of adding to that tally.

West Bromwich will be without Silvestre Varela (hernia), Brown Ideye (ankle) and Victor Anichebe (groin), while defender Andre Wisdom cannot face his parent club.
