Former Liverpool boss hints at Sterling exit

Former Reds boss, Roy Evans says that Liverpool would never have conducted their summer transfer window business the way they are doing right now had they known that star winger, Raheem Sterling would be staying at Anfield.

The England international clearly does not want to stay with the Reds and has reportedly asked the club to let him join Manchester City this summer. And after being thoroughly agitated by their star player’s actions, Liverpool have gone on to spend a lot of money to bring Brazil international, Roberto Firmino to Anfield.

And Evans believes that this signing is basically a knee jerk reaction to Sterling’s desire to leave Merseyside this summer.

“If you look at the transfer market and the way it has been with the amount of players Liverpool have bought, I think that Raheem Sterling’s sale must be in the equation,” he told talkSPORT.

“I don’t think they would be spending the amount of money they have if they didn’t feel Raheem Sterling was already a done deal to somewhere.”
