Liverpool to look elsewhere to sell Italian misfit

Mario Balotelli clearly has no future at Liverpool. After sealing a move to Anfield last summer from AC Milan, the Italy international simply failed to live up to his billing and found scoring goals the toughest task assigned to him.

Now, Brendan Rodgers is ready to cut his losses and is willing to listen to offers for a player whose career has gone down to new depths. Initially, Italian Serie A side Sampdoria were interested in acquiring the former Manchester City striker but the club’s manager, Walter Zenga has said that he does not want to sign the misfiring striker which means that the Reds will have to look elsewhere in the market.

“Cassano and Balotelli are players of extraordinary talent, but no, we won’t be signing them,” he said.

He later continued: “We have already made three or four buys. There’s Edgar Barreto, Niklas Moisander, Federico Bonazzoli and Mattia Cassani. We got Cassani to plug the gap after Lorenzo De Silvestri’s injury.

“The club acted quickly in the transfer market and we are building a good squad.”
