The Croatian international failed to shine for Liverpool last season but says that the team looks in really great shape with the arrival of new players
The former Olympique Lyonnais simply failed to showcase his true self before the Kop after joining the Reds from Southampton last summer and was one of the worst performers for his team. However, the 26 year old has shaken off the past and is looking forward to the new season.
While speaking to reporters, Lovren said that the arrival of the likes of James Milner, Danny Ings and Robert Firmino has really strengthened the team and is confident that the Reds will start the season really well this time around.
He added: “We knew that at the end of the season we should have done better. Now we need to forget it and look forward. We cannot look back. I know this season will definitely be better.
“I hope this year we will have a better start. The signs are promising at the minute and we have made great signings.
“James has been brilliant, Divock (Origi) has been amazing and Danny is quite quick. I hope that I will have a good season as well.
“It is better that you have competition than not. We are all fighting for our places – nobody can be 100% certain for his place. I think it is a good thing for the club that we have quality defenders.”
