Liverpool in pole position to seal Illaramendi deal

The Anfield crew have been handed a significant boost in their endeavors to make Asier Illaramendi their ninth signing of the summer transfer window, according to reports in Spain.

Liverpool target Asier Illaramendi has been told by the club officials that he has no future at Santiago Bernabeue and is free to move to a new club.

The 24-year-old defensive midfielder who signed for Real Madrid from Real Sociedad in 2013 for  €32 millions made just 10 appearances for Los Blancos last season.

In past few weeks, Arsenal and Manchester United have expressed interest in the Real Madrid midfielder who appears to be a surplus to requirements at Bernabeue. However the Reds, who have long been in hunt for a decent defensive midfielder, are in the driving seat to bring the Spaniard to Anfield. Some reports suggest that Brendan Rodgers is tabling up a €15 million transfer deal to entice the former Real-Sociedad man to the Merseyside club.
