Aston Villa manager digs back at Liverpool’s latest signing Christian Benteke after the Belgian striker criticized him.
Christian Benteke completed a £32.5million switch from Villa Park to Anfield, after having a stunning last season with Villa in which he notched up 16 goals in 38 appearances.
Earlier in May, Tim Sherwood indicated that Benteke may not fit in a team who do not cross the ball, a reference widely believed to be directed at the Merseyside club. It triggered a reaction from the Belgian forward who vowed to proved Sherwood wrong. However, the Irons boss shrugged off accusations from former Aston Villa forward, saying:
“I can’t remember ever saying that, he must have dreamt that one.
“I would try anything to make him stay but I don’t remember ever saying he shouldn’t go and play for Liverpool. I wouldn’t be that disrespectful to that football club.”
