The Potters supporter suffered a cardiac arrest when the Brazilian magician scored a stunning golazo in the closing moments of the game.
The Stoke City supporter was cheering his team on Sunday when Coutinho made a fantastic run and smashed a thunderbolt in the net. Stunned, the fan plummeted on the ground and the Britannia Stadium medical team had to immediately rush him to the hospital. Initial medical reports claim that the fan had suffered a heart attack, but he is recovering fast now.
A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We had a call just before 5.50pm to a male cardiac arrest. A community defibrillator was used at the stadium. Two ambulances were sent out and he was taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital. It was a successful resuscitation.”
After the unfortunate incident, many Premier League stars came on social media platforms to sympathize with the Potters fan.
Charlie Adams posted: ”Sad to hear a Stoke fan took ill today at the game. All the players send their best wishes, get well soon.”
