Liverpool not going any higher on Illarramendi bid

La Liga BBVA outfit Real Madrid have signed in Mateo Kovacic and now are looking to offload Asier Illarramendi but first contender Liverpool FC are not agreeing to raise the bid.

Earlier this week, it had been anticipated if Real Madrid secure the signature of Kovacic, it could create a ripple effect for a number of summer transfers.

Now that Los Blancos have the Croatian at Santiago Bernabéu they are eager to send Illarramendi to Anfield but knowing that Rafael Benitez now has more midfielders then he wants, boss Brandan Rodgers is not raising the bid from £10.7m which they are saying is his true value.

On the other hand, La Liga outfit Real Sociedad and Serie A franchise Juventus are also keen to purchase the midfielder. However, Premier League seems to be the first priority for the Spaniard.

The Reds have no problem in sparing Lucas Leiva for the sake of getting Illarramendi at Anfield. The Brazilian has been given free hand to look for his option elsewhere.
