Basiktas looking for Leiva services on loan

After an unsuccessful bid from Basiktas of £3.5m for securing the services of Lucas Leiva, the Super Lig club is now looking to land him at Vodafon Arena on loan.

The Brazilian international has trickled down on Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers’ pecking order and has allegedly been told by the management to look for other options. However, the Turkish club’s first bid was lower than the Reds’ £8m valuation of the player.

In the light of the aforesaid, Black Eagles are now looking for his services in the midfield on loan. Their transfer committee head Erdal Torunogullari said that his club is still looking at Leiva as an option. “Lucas is a player on our shortlist, talks are ongoing,” he said.

Leiva came to Anfield eight years ago and has helped the Reds win League Cup during the 2011/12 campaign.

Liverpool is also looking to off-load Mario Balotelli and Fabio Borini as they have not performed for the club as expected.
