Lucas Leiva is staying put

After falling behind in the pecking order in manager Brenden Rodger’s plans but the recent injury to Jordan Henderson has seen any ideas to offload him shelved. Lucas was expected to leave Anfield for Besiktas, who have been rather active in the transfer market expecting to sign Manchester United’s Victor Valdes.

Lucas was recently recalled to the Red’s lineup in the stalemate with Arsenal on Monday night and put in an impressive performance after a gap.

Orman, the president of Turkish club Besitkas, said in a statement: “Liverpool do not want him to go. The transfer can only go ahead with their say so there is nothing we can do right now.”

Besitkas were hopeful of signing the services of Lucas Leiva after injuries to their key playmakers TolgayArslan and Veil Kavlak.

Lucas now has two years left on his contract who is likely to be involved against the game against West Ham on Saturday and till Red’s captain returns to full fitness.
