Former Liverpool reject scores on his debut for AC Milan

After making the headlines for all the wrong reasons, Balotelli scores a cracker in the opening three minutes of his career for AC Milan.

Balotelli scored 30 goals in 54 appearances for Milan having joined from Manchester City in January 2013, before moving to Liverpool for £16 million last August, but he netted just one league goal for the Reds in a disappointing campaign.

Jamie Carragher believes that selling Balotelli was the right move for the club and as well as the player.

“I don’t necessarily believe that keeping Mario was a viable option anymore. The competition in the side needs to grow and that can only happen when you have players of the highest caliber.”

Balotelli also provided an assist for team-mate Andrea Poli, with new Brazilian signing from Shakhtar Donetsk, Luiz Adriano scoring the other.

Milan’s CEO Adriano Galliani this week suggested that Balotelli has ‘radically changed’ since re-joining the club from Liverpool, and had enjoyed a brilliant first week of training back at the club.
