West Ham and Liverpool will be out to start 2016 on a high when they meet at Upton Park on Saturday in the 12.45pm kick off.

The Hammers are set to be boosted by the return of Dimitri Payet. The £10.7million summer signing from Marseille, was not expected to be back until at least early February after injuring his ankle.

However he has made a quicker than expected recovery and is tipped to make his first appearance since the clash with Everton in November.

The attacking midfielder has scored 5 goals and assisted 3 in his first 12 Premier League games and the club’s stand out player in the early weeks of the season.

Payet is set to be joined by two more returning stars with Victor Moses and Winston Reid also set to be in the squad.

The return of the trio means that only Diafra Sakho will be missing for the hammers. The forward is expected to be out until February with a torn thigh muscle.

Jordan Henderson will be assessed after coming off against the Black Cats with a heel complaint while Daniel Sturridge, Jon Flanagan, Martin Skrtel and Divock Origi will all be missing.
