Liverpool to make £10m move for Wigan striker
Hugo Rodallega may finally get his move to a “big” club – as Liverpool are ready to make a £10m bid for the striker.
The Columbian international has attracted serious attention form a whole host of Europe’s biggest clubs over the past two seasons and with his contract running out in July, Wigan will be looking to offload him now for a substantial fee rather than letting him go for free in the summer.
If rumours are to be believed then Liverpool are the favourites to sign the striker as they seem to be more open with their spending in comparison to other interested parties Arsenal and Aston Villa.
They had been planning to wait until the end of the season in order to try and nick the striker on a free transfer but they need to fill the void left by Luis’s Suárez’s suspension for racially abusing Patrice Evra.
The Uruguayan international is about to serve an eight-match ban and manager Kenny Dalglish is keen to add a different attacking dimension to his squad that have struggled for goals all season.
But Liverpool fans must be worried regarding the interest in the Wigan forward when you consider the form he has been in for the relegation threatened side. He has been far from his best for Wigan this season, scoring only one goal in 15 Premier League games and disappointing the locals with his questionable attitude.
Whether he would be able to replace the qualities of Suarez is questionable and the fact he has never played for the club of the stature of Liverpool, where the fans are quick to get on the players back, would be another worry for all concerned with the club.
The current price being talked about (£10m) could be a great deal for Wigan, but no so for Liverpool.
