Liverpool Sunderland Odds as Daglish looks to kick off season with win

Liverpool fans will be frothing at the mouth at the prospect of Kenny Daglish featuring his impressive array of new signings on Saturday as Sunderland pay a visit to Anfield in the opening weekend of the Premiership season.

For pundits and fans alike the question on everyone’s lips is can Liverpool finally lift some silverware this season, and in particular can the Reds mount a series challenge for the Premiership title?

For once, Liverpool fans can be optimistic. An impressive final few months last season, after the arrival of Kenny Daglish saw the Reds catapulted into 6th place, a spot which seemed well out of reach at Christmas.

Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez have been brought in to bolster the Liverpool front line, and with Suarez one of the stars of Copa America for Uruguay, we could well see the Argentinian light up the Premiership.

Ladbrokes have been in touch and are offering all SqueakyBumTime customers a free £50 bet to spend on any of this weekend’s games. Be quick to collect – limited offer.

The summer months have also been very busy for all at the Anfield club, as Daglish once again signalled his intent at rebuilding this once great club by bringing in Charlie Adam from Blackpool for £9m. The Scot was the shining light at Blackpool last season and looks likely to replicate his form. Jordan Henderson and Stuart Downing have also joined the ranks from Sunderland and Aston Villa respectively, and with Steven Gerrard waiting in the wings things definitely look much rosier this time around.

Of course, Sunderland themselves will be seeking an upset as Steve Bruce is set for a intimidating reception after capturing Man Utd old boys Wes Brown and Jon O’Shea, always Liverpool favourites and are likely to make an appearance. Conor Wickham has been brought in from Ipswich and the youngster will ably support Asamoah Gyan up front, who impressed last term.

It should be an interesting match as Liverpool aim for glories of yesteryear, and questions as to whether they are up for the challenge ahead should be answered come five o clock on Saturday.
