Chelsea to move for £50m Liverpool striker should Lewandowski bid collapse

Sources close to have revealed that Chelsea are ready to launch a £50million bid for Liverpool’s star man Luis Suarez.

Blues owner Roman Abramovich is becoming increasingly frustrated at the lack of a big name striker so far this season as main target, Robert Lewandowski looks set to join Bayern Munich.

Once again there is a distinct possibility that the Russian could raid Anfield once more for their prized asset.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rogers recently admitted that they would listen to offers if a club was to bid serious money for the player.

Luis Suarez will miss the first six games of the Premier League 2013/2014 season following his 10 match ban he received for biting possible future teammate Branislav Ivanovic when they met in April.

The Uruguayan international has been at the centre of controversy since his arrival at Anfield in 2010 when he was signed for £22.8million.

The 26-year-old was found guilty of being racist towards Manchester Untied left-back Patrice Evra in December 2011 and was given a 9 game ban.

The striker’s antics on the pitch has left Rogers frustrated with him and it is believed that he is prepared to consider Chelsea’s £50million bid.

The arrival of Daniel Sturridge in January resulted in being a great piece of business for the Kop’s manager as he was able to step in the shoes of Suarez in the final 4 games of the season and managed to score 10 goals in 14 appearances.

Chelsea are in the market for a new striker as former Liverpool man Fernando Torres has failed to live up to his £50million transfer fee and January signing Demba Ba has also failed to lighten up Stamford Bridge.

This has resulted in the departure of Chelsea favourite Didier Drogba still haunting the Blues, therefore rumored incoming manager Jose Mourinho is preparing himself to chase after a new front man this summer.

Chelsea have been linked with a number of forwards already this Summer, with Edison Cavani, Robert Lewandowski, Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney all to be on their radar.

However, Cavani looks set to be moving to Manchester City, with Edin Dzeko rumored to be going the other way, whilst Lewandowski is set to join Bayern Munich.

The club is believed to be extremely interested in bringing Wayne Rooney to the Bridge however it was recently announced that Arsenal are ready to smash their wage structure to take him to the Emirates by offering him £200k a week.

There is an expected massive battle for Cristiano Ronaldo, as Manchester United are desperate for him to return to them, but with Mourinho’s imminent return to Chelsea, he could be tempted to join them instead.

The arrival of Mourinho may be a contributing factor for Luis Suarez as he is disappointed not to be playing European football again and will relish the chance to play in the Champions League next season with Chelsea.

Should Chelsea lodge a bid for the player in the early stages, Liverpool will seriously consider the offer as they are also expected to receive £12million from West Ham for Andy Carroll.

This will give them at least £72million to spend on new faces, and with the retirement of Jamie Carragher, the club is going to need some new faces.
