Liverpool have emerged as serious rivals to Spurs bid to sign Barcelona striker David Villa.
With rumours continue to persist over the future of Luis Suarez Liverpool are reportedly eyeing up Spanish star Villa for an Anfield move.
Reds manager Brendan Rodgers remains determined to keep Suarez at the club but with the Uruguayan keen on a move to Real Madrid the former Swansea manager is lining up alternatives.
Christian Benteke is also on the Northern Irishman’s wish list but reports suggest that Villa is the top target.
The 31 year old, Spain’s record goal-scorer, is reportedly ready to leave the Nou Camp this summer with his place in the first team no longer assured following the big money arrival of Brazilian sensation, Neymar.
Liverpool have already signed Iago Aspas and Luis Alberto from La Liga and they could make it a Spanish hat-trick with a €8 million move for Villa.
Spurs are still believed to be front-runners to land the striker but with a deal not yet in place, despite reports confirming otherwise at the weekend, Liverpool are hoping to nip in. Napoli, managed by former Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez, are also interested.
Villa has scored 282 goals in Spanish football during spells with Sporting Gijon, Zaragoza, Valencia and Barcelona.
Liverpool are also ready to re-enter the race to sign Blackpool winger Thomas Ince.
Cardiff and Swansea were both thought to be leading the race for the England U21 International with Blackpool accepting an £8 million offer from both Welsh sides.
That would have given Liverpool a windfall of £2.8 million but Rodgers is ready to forgo that by making a move for the 21 year old.
It was thought that Liverpool had withdrawn from the race for the winger but Rodgers is set to resurrect his interest and seal a deal by offering the player a regular starting berth.
