Both sides have been in impressive form in recent weeks, although City’s record of 16 games unbeaten outshines Rovers recent run of just one defeat in their last 8 games.
In addition to their superb form, City have also received a welcome boost ahead of the game with star forward Sergio Aguero set to return to action.
The Argentine International has missed the last 8 games with a calf injury sustained in the 6-3 win over Manchester City but has now resumed full training and is in line to play on Wednesday evening.
Speaking in the build up to the game, his manager Manuel Pellegrini revealed that the 25 year old was ready to play if needed, telling reporters “Sergio is working normally with the whole squad and he is in the squad list.
“He is a very important player for us. It doesn’t matter that we are scoring a lot of goals. Sergio will always will be an important player. We are very happy he is coming back.”
City will however be without David Silva and Yaya Toure for the clash with small knocks but they are expected to return against Cardiff at the weekend while Samir Nasri faces 8 weeks out following the injury he suffered in the Newcastle game.
Striker Stevan Jovetic and midfielder Jack Rodwell (both hamstring) are both unlikely to return.
Blackburn meanwhile should be able to call upon winger Josh King for the game.
