The embarrassment of riches available to the club will see a number of debuts handed out this weekend with summer signings Eliaquim Mangala and Bacary Sagna this weekend.

The pair have been eased into life at the Etihad but could make their first starts this weekend with Pablo Zabaletta and Martin Demichelis the men likely to make way.

Another player that is being eased back into action is Sergio Aguero. The Argentine forward has emerged as something of a super-sub in the first two games of the season with back to back goals and he likely to continue from the bench as Manuel Pellegrini eases him into the side.

With Stevan Jovetic looking impressive in the early weeks of the season the pressure on rushing Aguero back has been eased although a leg injury to Edin Dzeko could hamper those thoughts. Definitely out for City is Alvaro Negredo while Frank Lampard could join Mangala and Sagna in making their debuts.

Stoke meanwhile will be without Stephen Ireland with doubts over Bojan, Glenn Whelan and Phil Bardsley. The Potters have made a slow start to the season losing at home to Villa and drawing away to Hull although a brace from Jon Walters helped the club to a 3-0 morale boosting midweek win over Portsmouth.

Walters has had to contend with a place on the bench in the early weeks of the season but, along with another midweek goal-scorer Peter Crouch, could feature after become the first forwards in the Stoke team to net this season.

That Pompey game also saw Victor Moses make his debut with the tricky on-loan winger making an instant impression, enough to come into consideration for this weekend.
