Manchester United lining up Cabaye Move

Manchester United are ready to make a move for Newcastle United midfielder Yohan Cabaye as they look to bolster their midfield options.

The Red Devils have been linked with Barcelona star Cesc Fabregas as well as Everton star Marouane Fellaini, after missing out on long term target Thiago Alcantara, who moved to Bayern Munich earlier this month.

But while talks are continuing behind the scenes for the pair the club have also lined up a move for French International Cabaye.

The talented Toon star moved to the North-East of England two seasons ago in a £4.5 million deal from Ligue 1 side Lille but is now valued closer to the £20 million mark.

New Manchester United boss David Moyes is reportedly ready to test the water with £15 million offer after making a new midfield signing his priority.

Speaking after his side had beaten the A-league all stars 5-1 Moyes said “Signing a midfield player was one area where we thought we could possibly add to the squad.

“It’s hard to get top quality players who can come in and affect your team. That’s why we’re trying to go for what we see as the right players and the best players.

While the club continues to negotiate with Barcelona for former Arsenal star Cesc they are pursuing other avenues and have targeted 27 year old Cabaye amid reports the player has become disillusioned with life on Tyneside.

Unlike Cesc, Cabaye is a box to box midfielder with a lovely set piece delivery and his potential arrival at Old Trafford would be welcome boost to the Moyes as he looks to secure his first signing since becoming Manchester United manager.

Since joining the Magpies Cabaye has made 60 league appearances scoring an impressive 10 goals and providing 8 assists.

Big spending French duo PSG and Monaco are also interested in the 23 times capped International.

The links will no doubt displease Newcastle manager Alan Pardew especially after he berated mew PSG manager Laurent Blanc earlier in the summer for going public in expressing their interest in Cabaye.

Speaking at the time Pardew said, ‘He can get on the phone to me or make a bid. I think that’s the right way to do it.

‘I think the way it’s come out isn’t perhaps respectful to Yohan. That’s something I want to talk to him about.’

Cabaye however had previously declared an interest in playing for the current Premier League Champions and Newcastle’s preparations for the new season could be severely disrupted should Moyes make his interest official.
