Manchester United grabbed all the headlines on deadline day as the club completed a stunning double swoop.
Louis Van Gaal concluded his summer activity with the minute captures of Daley Blind and Radamel Falcao.
Blind, the versatile Dutch International, arrives from Ajax in a £13.8 million deal after agreeing personal terms and agreeing a medical over the weekend.
Speaking to the club’s official website, the defensive midfielder said “It is a real honour to sign for Manchester United.
“I have been at Ajax since I was seven years old and I will always have very fond memories of the club and of my time there.”
“Louis van Gaal is a tremendously talented coach, I have worked with him at Ajax and also for the Netherlands national team and I cannot wait to work with him at the biggest club in the world.”
Van Gaal meanwhile had this to day about his latest signing “I am delighted Daley has signed for the club.
“He is a very intelligent and versatile footballer that can play in many positions.
“Daley is a great reader of the game, he has played under my philosophy over a number of years and he will be a great addition to the team.”
The Blind deal was overshadowed somewhat however by the season-loan deal the club agreed for Monaco forward Falcao.
The club will pay approximately £6 million to the Ligue 1 side for the Colombian forward with the club beating off competition from Real Madrid and cross town rivals Manchester City to land the talented forward.
The club are believed to have the option to buy the player next summer although details of the deal are still to be released.
The capture of the Blind and Falcao concludes a successful end to the window with the pair joining up with two more recent signings in the shape of Angel di Maria and Marcos Rojo.
