Former Bayern striker wouldn’t be surprised to see Bastian Schweinsteiger LVG at OT

While speaking to Goal, former Bayern Munich striker, Roy Makaay stated that he will not be surprised if former teammate, Bastian Schweinsteiger joins Manchester United this summer.

The combative German midfielder has been touted with a move to Old Trafford in recent weeks and Makaay, who scored goals galore for the Bavarians between 2003 and 2007 stated that he would understand if Schweinsteiger leaves Allianz Arena for Louis van Gaal’s side.

The Dutchman says that Schweinsteiger has a really great relationship with the Dutch tactician and the move should not come as a huge surprise.

Makaay said: “Bastian’s an amazing player, a world champion. If you saw him at the World Cup final he was bleeding everywhere but he came back on the pitch.

“He and Van Gaal had a good relationship so it wouldn’t surprise me if he joined United. I hope he stays at Bayern. He’s a kid from the club and he has to stay there.

“But if he decides to move it wouldn’t be a surprise if he changed to Man United knowing the good relationship he has with the manager.”
