The Dutch giants are desperate to hold on to their current number 1 Jasper Cillisen who is seen by Louis van Gaal as the perfect replacement for David de Gea
With De Gea almost set to leave Old Trafford for a lucrative contract with Real Madrid, Manchester United have already started moving swiftly to bring in a goalkeeper who can quickly acclimatise himself with English football. And after making initial contact with Tottenham Hotspur’s Hugo Lloris and Fiorentina’s Neto, LVG has decided that Cillisen is the custodian he wants as the club’s number 1 for next season.
However, Ajax are not keen on selling the goalkeeper to the Red Devils and plan on keeping him for a long time. While talking to reporters, the Amsterdammers manager, Frank de Boer stated that he is not looking to let the Netherlands international leave the club anytime soon.
Ajax boss De Boer told Voetball International, via ESPN: “He is very important to us so we do not want to lose him.
“I’m assuming that he stays.”
