Bastian Schweinsteiger allays injury fears

The German international says that fans should not worry about his recent fitness record, stating that he is in extremely good shape

The last few months of his final spell at Bayern Munich saw Schweinsteiger skip quite a few matches through injury but despite that, Manchester United paid quite a lot of money to bring the world cup winner to Old Trafford. However, Schweinsteiger says that he is not worried about his match fitness, stating that he is in good shape.

And even though he started just 15 games for the Bavarians last season, the midfielder says that he is feeling great.

He told MUTV: “Everything is fine and I’m looking forward to giving my best for Manchester United and I’m really happy to be here.

“Of course, I had a tough World Cup so after that I was injured until I think end of October.

“But then I had great weeks and months with Bayern, I was not injured and I am feeling great now.”

The midfielder added: “I’m here to win titles and that’s what United is used to, too. I’m looking forward to playing in the jersey.

“I know Louis van Gaal, so coming here was a little bit easier, but it’s not about him, it’s more about the club, such a big club with tradition and, with this quality in the team, we can win titles next season.

“I’m looking forward to that moment in the jersey and to play for the team and the great supporters.”
