Rafael Benitez not worried about Sergio Ramos

The Real Madrid defender has been hotly linked with a move to Manchester United but the club’s manager is not worried about the situation

The former Seville defender has reportedly fallen out with the club’s president and has requested to be allowed to join Louis van Gaal’s team. However, it appears that this particular transfer saga will not be concluding anytime soon with the club’s manager stating that his player is not going to leave this summer regardless of what the rumours say.

“I have a lot of respect for (United manager) Louis van Gaal, but Sergio will be staying with us,” the Real Madrid manager said at a press conference in Australia.

“He is our player, our captain. I would like to see him (at the club) at the beginning of the season, because he’s a key player for us.”

When asked whether he was absolutely certain the centre-half would stay, Benitez said: “For me, 100 per cent.

“I insist that it is clear for me and the club, Sergio will be here. Football is a curious world, but Ramos will be staying.”
