According to latest reports, Manchester United full-back Rafael is on the cusp of signing a deal with the French side Lyon.
Lyon’s club president has confirmed that Rafael da Silva has arrived in France to secure his move away from Old Trafford, although no transfer fee has been disclosed yet.
The Ligue 1 club’s president wrote on his Twitter account: “Raphael has arrived from Manchester U. We’re waiting1 for an agreement with MU on the transfer. He’s in a very Brazilian good mood.”
Rafael arrived at Old Trafford 7 years ago from Fluminense, and was a crucial component in the first team squad, under Sir Alex Ferguson’s management. However, last season, the Brazilian only made 7 starts for Van Gaal’s side due to a series of injuries. He also failed to earn a spot in Manchester United’s first team squad in the pre-season tour.
If the deal is ratified, the 25-year-old will leave Old Trafford with some delightful memories, 149 appearances, and most importantly, 3 Premier League trophies.
