According to latest reports from English media, Barcelona striker Pedro is just hours away from penning a deal with Manchester United.
Manchester United executives are already on their way to meet with the Catalan club’s officials for signing the Spain international. Reportedly, Louis Van Gaal has tabled a €25m for the Spanish winger.
However, Barcelona are holding out for a transfer fee of around €30m. 28-year-old Pedro is to replace Angel Di Mariam, who is set to join French champions PSG.
Van Gaal believes that Manchester United will be title contenders if they succeed in luring Pedro to Old Trafford.
“Barcelona have the speed of Neymar and Messi — and they have Pedro behind them. We have to compete with that.
“We can win the title if we can buy players with speed and creativity. We have to improve our selection in that way.
“They are our competitors. Chelsea have Hazard, Willian, Oscar — that is speed and creativity.”
