Manchester United target Real Madrid’s Pepe

After missing out on Sergio Ramos, Louis Van Gaal is tabling up a transfer deal for the Portugal international

Manchester United, who are already on the brink of signing Barcelona star Pedro, are now turning their attention to the 32-year-old centre-back to bolster their defensive lines.

Known for his aggressive style, the Portuguese international has fallen to the 3rd choice defender at Bernabeu, behind skipper Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane. That may motivate Real Madrid to clear the exit door for him before the transfer window shuts down.

Louis van Gaal is really keen on signing John Stones despite Chelsea leading the race for the England international right now but will look to bring in Pepe at the 11th hour if deals for other long term targets fail to materialise.

Moreover, with Nicolas Ottamendi still keen on making a switch to Old Trafford from Valencia it remains to be seen if LVG will actually make a move for a player whose previous discretions may not endear him to the club’s fans.
