Michael Carrick confident of ending trophy drought

The English midfielder claims that the new midfield signings can fire the club back to the top rung of Premier League ladder.

Manchester United star Michael Carrick believes that the arrival of Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin and German World Cup winner Bastian Schweinsteiger has made Red Devils a serious title contender this season.

The Red Devils have invested significantly in the transfer market this summer with a couple of more players rumoured to be joining the club soon and Carrick is confident that the tide is turning.

He said: ‘Morgan has been at Southampton for a number of years and has been a very good player in the Premier League.

‘Over the last three or four years, he has had some great performances and we have all seen that.’

‘Basti is slightly different. He is new to England, but at the same time we all know exactly what he is all about.

‘He’s achieved so much. It’s like with any new signing, the boys ask questions and you try to pick things up from their experiences and try to learn from it.’
