Manchester United’s dream of signing Neymar crumbles

The Brazilian will sign a new five year deal with Barcelona to put all the rumors of him leaving to rest.

Manchester United were rumored to be keen on signing the Barcelona star following Wayne Rooney’s poor performances as the new season began. Rooney who has scored one away goal in nine months (before his spectacular hat-trick against Club Bruges last night). forced United to make inquiries in the transfer market.

Barcelona will sit down with Neymar’s advisors before the end of the year to discuss a new five-year contract that will see his buyout clause increase to €250million (£182m) in line with Lionel Messi’s.

The player’s current deal runs until 2018 and the club want him to sign a new contract before the end of this season that will tie him down until 2021.

His salary is officially set at €8.8m (£6.4m) net per season but Barcelona are still in court over the accusation that they structured his transfer from Santos in such a way as to top up his earnings while avoiding income tax.
