Official: Javier Hernandez signs for Bayer Leverkusen

The Mexican international has signed a three-year contract with the German side after completing a move from Manchester United.

Louis Van Gaal has not been kind to some United players and it comes as a surprise to some. After failing to sign a striker, Hernandez was allowed to leave which furiated a lot of fans and former United players including Gary Neville and Rio Ferdinand.

Hernandez expressed his delight at moving to Roger Schmidt’s team, who finished fourth in the league last term.

“I know the English Premier League and the Primera Division in Spain, two of the three major European leagues. Now I want to experience the Bundesliga,” the forward said.

“Joining Bayer Leverkusen is a great opportunity for me, I want to and can achieve something here.”

Bayer lost Son Heung-min this summer, having sold him to Tottenham, but have strengthened with Charles Aranguiz and Kevin Kampl.
