Bayern Munich rejected a huge bid for Thomas Muller from Manchester United

Bayern Munich president Karl-Heinz claims that he turned down an extremely lucrative offer for Muller this summer.

Although he did not officially declare the name of the club but reports close to Allainz Arena claim that it was Louis Van Gaal’s side which made efforts to lure away the German international.

Manchester United were not the only one chasing Thomas Muller as Real Madrid were also keen to sign Muller after failing to impress in their opening game as well.

‘I’m talking about figures which were very high indeed,’ he said. ‘If I were a bank manager then I would have had to accept it.

‘But as a football club we allowed ourselves to close the door on it, and this door is remaining closed. I can promise that to everybody.

‘But one thing is for certain, in view of the increased television money in England things are not going to get any easier for Bayern in future.’
