This game is one that has two huge storylines running through it.
The first is a return to Old Trafford for Wayne Rooney following his move from Manchester United back to the club where it all began for him, Everton.
The second is Romelu Lukaku playing his first game for Manchester United against his former club Everton, following his big money move this summer. Both scored many crucial goals for their old clubs and both will be looking to do the same at their new clubs, espcially in this game.
It has been a very promising start to the season for Manchester United, they are currently top of the Premier League on goal difference, level on points with their city rivals Manchester City. Until last weekend they hadn’t dropped a point in the league, or conceded a goal but both of those changed thanks to a 2-2 draw away at Stoke. It has still been impressive though, and United look set to challenge for the title this season, alongside many others.
The same can’t be said about the start Everton have made, that has been pretty disappointing so far and one they will want to put right. They are down in 16th right now with just four points and come here on the back of three poor defeats. A 2-0 loss to Chelsea was followed up by a very disappointing 3-0 loss at home to Tottenham and they also lost 3-0 on Thursday against Atalanta in the Europa League.
With the form that both teams bring here, I see nothing other than a comfortable win for Manchester United in this game.
They have the form and quality to beat Everton, who are on a poor run and don’t be surprised to see a certain Romelu Lukaku get on the scoresheet against his former club.
