Top Five reasons why it might be United’s title

Manchester United moved six points clear at the top of the Premier League with a victory over Manchester City this weekend, so we are going to give the top five reasons why it could be the red half of the city celebrating at the end of the domestic campaign.

#1 – Sir Alex Ferguson

If there is one man you want in charge of the team when you want to win titles – it is Sir Alex Ferguson. He seems to be hungrier than ever to lift the trophy this season, which is bad news for Roberto Mancini.

If he needs to, Ferguson will do some business in the January transfer window and you can expect the Red Devils to really turn on the style in the second half of the campaign.

With Fergie in charge, how can you look past United?

#2 – Revenge

Make no doubt about it, that Sergio Aguero strike against Queens Park Rangers back in May really did hurt everyone involved with Manchester United.

The fans, players and Ferguson all want nothing more than to deliver the Premier League title this time out and now they have this lead, will be doing all they can to keep hold of it.

They do not want history repeating itself and would love to be the team to take the trophy off City.

#3 – Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney

These two are flying at the moment. They are forming a superb partnership and their link-up play has been of the highest quality.

Both of them are in their best years as a player, so are looking to win as many trophies as they can, which could be a worrying sign for any opposition.

If Rooney and van Persie stay fit for the season, then United will probably be the leading goal-scorers in the league, which would give them a superb chance of winning the title.

#4 –Six Points

Is this an unassailable lead? No, of course it isn’t. But, it is a significant one that give Man United a great deal of confidence.

If they can maintain it throughout the Christmas period, we all know how strong they usually are in the New Year so the Red Devils will be well and truly in pole position.

With three of their next four home matches being at Old Trafford, United should go into January with their six point lead intact.

#5 – Because they are Manchester United

When you start to think that City will go on and dominate the Premier League, United come back stronger than ever.

The club is full of winners that will not accept second place. It will take a number of huge performances to win the league, but with the talent in the squad and Ferguson at the helm the side, it could be a very successful season for Manchester United.
